Our Vision

Our vision is to create a sustainable and environmentally conscious destination that showcases the natural beauty of Funzi Island while promoting responsible tourism and fostering community development. At our Eco tourism site, we plan to provide a range of facilities and amenities, including a picnic/camping site, six cottages made out of 100% recycled plastics and tiles, and reused doors, windows and furniture. What sets us apart is our commitment to implementing eco-friendly practices throughout our operations. Our cottages and buildings will be constructed by incorporating a sustainable design through recycling and re-usage, thus minimising our environmental impact and promoting the principles of a circular economy. In addition to sustainable construction materials, we will employ green and circular waste management and recovery systems. This will include waste segregation and recycling initiatives to ensure that waste generated by our company and the neighbouring Funzi community is properly managed. We also plan to establish a sustainable ecosystem by optimising the use of renewable resources and energy. This will involve the installation of solar panels, rainwater collection and reuse, as well as the upcycling and recycling of organic and plastic waste into charcoal briquets and turning plastic waste into functional end products. On my previous visit to Funzi Island, I was shocked at the amount of plastic debris on the beaches of Funzi Island. We firmly believe in the importance of community engagement and local development. Therefore, we are committed to creating new job opportunities for the community surrounding our operations. By hiring local residents and providing training and skill development programs, we aim to empower individuals and enhance their quality of life, as we have always been doing. Furthermore, we recognise the significance of preserving the unique ecosystems of Funzi Bay. To contribute to this endeavour, we will actively support the planting of mangrove trees both financially and in-kind. Our goal is to collaborate closely with local organisations and community members to conserve and restore the mangrove forests, which provide vital ecological services and protect the island’s fragile coastal environment. We have already planted more than 3000 mangrove propagules and seedlings in the Funzi area and we intend to plant at least 20,000 by the end of the year. We are confident that our eco tourism site will not only attract tourists seeking sustainable and responsible tourism experiences but also contribute to the economic growth and environmental conservation goals of Kwale County.
